The Cummins RS30 Quiet Connect (part number A051Y402) is a 30kW liquid-cooled standby generator built for 120/208V three-phase service. It delivers 104.1 amps at full load, starts and transfers automatically under its PowerCommand 1.1 control, and is capable of meeting NFPA 110 requirements when equipped with the necessary accessories and properly installed. It runs on natural gas or propane vapor, selectable in the field.
It's sized for businesses that have outgrown a residential home standby but don't need a 100kW-class genset: professional and medical offices, retail, restaurants, churches and small light-commercial buildings on 208V three-phase service. The compact Quiet Connect enclosure measures 94 x 34 x 45.5 inches and weighs 1,231 lb, so it fits sites where larger commercial units won't.
Mighty Generators supplies the RS30 by quote. Cummins builds it to order and ships it freight direct, typically in 5 to 6 weeks, so you can have the pad, fuel line and transfer switch ready while it's in production.
The Cummins 2.4L turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder runs at 1800 rpm with an isochronous electronic governor, so frequency holds steady as loads switch on and off. It's a single-fuel engine that can be set up for natural gas or propane vapor in the field. At full load it uses 380.9 cubic feet per hour of natural gas or 4.5 gallons per hour of propane.
PowerCommand handles automatic remote starting and stopping, voltage and frequency regulation, alarm and status display, output metering and automatic shutdown when it detects a fault. Voltage regulation is ±1.0% from no load to full load, and random frequency variation is ±0.25% at 60 Hz (ISO 8528-1 Class G3), which matters when the loads include IT equipment, variable-speed drives or medical devices. The flexible exercise mode lets you choose when and how long the generator runs its test cycle, down to as little as 2 minutes every 6 months, which cuts fuel use and noise on site.
The powder-coated aluminum enclosure comes in Sound Level 1 trim with the muffler installed, in sandstone. Cummins has evaluated it to withstand 180 mph wind loads under ASCE 7-10, and hinged doors open for service. Cummins publishes its sound rating with the optional Sound Level 2 upgrade kit fitted: 60 dB(A) at 23 ft (7 m). If a property line or local noise ordinance is tight, quote the upgrade kit with the generator. Cummins designs the RS30 to start in temperatures as low as -40°F, and the factory coolant heater keeps the engine ready to take load.
Start with the electrical service. This RS30 is wired for 120/208V three-phase. Cummins builds the RS30 for 120/240V single-phase and 120/240V three-phase service too, each under its own part number, so if your building has one of those services, ask us to quote the matching model instead of this one.
Typical applications for a three-phase unit this size:
Size the generator from the load, not the square footage. A licensed electrician or engineer should run a load calculation that accounts for motor starting, HVAC and anything on variable-speed drives, and our team can match that number to the right RS model.
If your calculated load lands close to 30kW, it's worth looking one size either side before you commit. Here's how the RS30 compares with RS25 and RS36 in the same 120/208V three-phase configuration.
| Model | Standby rating | Rated amps (120/208V) | Engine | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RS25 | 25 kW | 86.7 A | 2.4L | 1,109 lb |
| RS30 | 30 kW | 104.1 A | 2.4L | 1,231 lb |
| RS36 | 36 kW | 124.9 A | 2.4L | 1,294 lb |
The RS25 to RS40 share a compact enclosure and a 2.4L four-cylinder engine. The RS50 to RS100 move to a 5.9L six-cylinder in a 118.7 inch enclosure, and the RS125 and RS150 use an 8.9L engine in a 143 inch green enclosure with PowerCommand 2.3 control.

This RS30 (part number A051Y402) is built for 120/208V three-phase service and is rated 104.1 amps at full load, with a 125 A circuit breaker. Cummins also builds the RS30 for 120/240V single-phase and 120/240V three-phase service under different part numbers, so match the generator to your building's service before you order.
Yes. The RS30 is a single-fuel generator that can be set up for natural gas or propane vapor in the field, though it runs on one fuel at a time, not both. At full load Cummins rates it at 380.9 cubic feet per hour of natural gas or 4.5 gallons per hour of propane, which is what your gas utility or propane supplier will need to size the supply.
Cummins states the RS30 is capable of meeting NFPA 110 requirements when it's equipped with the necessary accessories and properly installed. It's certified to UL 2200 and EPA stationary emergency emissions rules (40 CFR 60) and meets IBC seismic requirements, and its PowerCommand control supports automatic remote start and shutdown on a detected fault. Your engineer of record or the authority having jurisdiction decides what level your facility needs.
With the optional Sound Level 2 upgrade kit, Cummins rates the RS30 at 60 dB(A) at 23 ft (7 m). The generator ships in a Sound Level 1 aluminum enclosure with the muffler installed, and the Sound Level 2 kit can be added where a property line or noise ordinance calls for it.
Choose on calculated load and growth. The RS30 is rated 30kW and 104.1 amps at 120/208V three-phase; the RS36 is rated 36kW and 124.9 amps and weighs 1,294 lb against 1,231 lb. If your load calculation lands close to 30kW or you expect to add equipment, the RS36 gives you headroom. Send us your load list with a quote request and we'll recommend the size.
Cummins backs the RS30 with a 2-year base warranty when it's used in an EPA stationary emergency (standby) application, and extended Cummins warranties are available. Warranty coverage and service come from Cummins and its certified distributor and dealer network. Mighty Generators is an authorized Cummins dealer: we'll check the configuration against your electrical service, quote the transfer switch and accessories, and coordinate freight to your site.
